IT'S TIME TO GET DAMN SERIOUS!....as you may already know, i'm a games art and design graduate who hopes to someday make it as a concept artist, that's been my goal since the first year of my degree course. If i'm honest I guess i've taken my foot off the gas for a while now and become complacent. Satisfied with the fact that I know I can draw, paint and sculpt reasonably well and thought that if I just keep goin at a snails pace things will happen....WRONG!
After a few letdowns such as job application rejections and a failed attempt at a masters degree due to financial reasons, I now see that to succeed in this game takes extra hard work, things really dont happen overnight. Talent simply is'nt enough, that's why i'm making a concerted effort to up my game (pardon the puns), i've seen the standard of work that most game companies look for in concept/character artists and i'm a little pissed off that i'm only now realising this, but better late than never i guess. I'm now drawing, painting and sculpting every day and to be honest i'm really enjoying it even when things get difficult trying to get that piece to look correct. Brad Rigney aka Cryptcrawler passed on some useful advice in one of his tutorials "it's not what you have to do improve, it's what you have to give up!" harsh but true. So no more pubs, clubs and (really cant believe i'm gonna say this) Playstation for me....it's now all about the art (AAA). Apologies if this seems like a rant but there's probably a few fellow deviant artist who feel the same way and can relate, as always whenever I need inspiration and an incentive DeviantArt is the place to go to get my creative high so thankyou dealers PEACE
